Visual identity of market "Mercat de I´Olivar"

I chose to design a new visual identity for Palma de Mallorca's oldest and busiest market for my final graduation university project. Established in 1951, "Mercat de I'Olivar" is a favorite among residents as well as a well-liked tourist attraction. I think the market will become even more appealing by updating and modifying its brand identity. A bag, which represents a traditional woven shopping bag from Mallorca, and an olive branch, which depicts the island's landscape, make up the logo. Additionally, the market's name, Olivar, which translates from Spanish as "olive grove," inspired me to create an olive branch element for the logo. For packaging design, I chose to include the traditional Mallorquin "ikat fabric" element, which you can see on the side of the shopping bag. All in all, my challenge was to give a fresh, exciting and modern new look to this local market but keep it traditional at the same time.
